We lost count of the number of people who attended the ‘Treasure Trove’ afternoon held in the Parish Rooms on Saturday 5th October. The room was buzzing at one point with everyone reminiscing or just enthralled or curious about the objects on display, found in fields around Tollerton. For example, a diary recording WW2 events written by an unknown soldier.
Other artefacts on display were from Hall Farm including newspapers from the 1940s.
A big thank you to Hazel Salisbury who loaned us many ancient maps of Tollerton. The children really enjoyed using the magnifying glasses, which were on hand for scrutinising all the finds and maps. Yvonne Burbanks informed a group of interested people on how to research family history without using expensive websites. The new History Group website was also on display and a video of WW2 troops marching through Tollerton.
A lot of effort went into setting up this event and Liz Fradd, our chair, would like to thank the group for all their hard work, and also those who made it possible.
